Indian cricket icon Kapil Dev joins fight against piracy

INDIA’S cricket icon Kapil Dev has joined the fight against piracy in the UAE as content infringement is expected to increase during the forthcoming Cricket World Cup, which will be held in the Indian subcontinent from Feb.19.

Dev, who led Indian team and won the Cricket World Cup in 1983, called upon cricket lovers to watch matches only through channels allowed in the country, and discourage those who opt for illegal means.

He made the call while addressing media in Dubai on Thursday.

Arab Digital Distribution (ADD), the region’s largest provider of pay television, has also stepped up its efforts to combat piracy with the platform expecting an increase in the telecast content infringement during the cricketing mega event.

The platform has shifted to a new encryption that is more secure. ADD is also providing all its subscribers with MPEG4 decoders completely free of cost.
